For your convenience, we've prepared a list of questions that are
frequently asked regarding our The Underground workshops. Please
check below for the answer to your question. If you don't see it
or you still need help, don't hesitate to call the Life Counseling
Center office at 888-581-LIFE (5433).

Where specifically is the workshop held?
The workshop is held in Easton, MD at either a retreat center or
local hotel offering conference room facilities. If you're flying,
the destination is the Baltimore Washington International airport
(code BWI).
What is the cost of the workshop and what does it include?
The affordable fee covers all lodging and meals for the duration
of the workshop except for a Friday evening meal that all will attend
at a quality local restaurant. Also, the below fee does not reflect
an increase in price should the workshop have to be held in a hotel.
(See Below).
How long is the workshop?
The workshop starts on Thursday morning at 8:45 AM and ends on Saturday
afternoon at 5:00 PM.
I can't afford the workshop fee. Is there any way I can still
come?
We don't want financial issues to keep people from getting the help
they need, and we do our best to work with a participant's situation.
Half of the workshop fee is due up-front and the remainder can be
put on a no-interest payment plan spread over a 2-4 month period.
Is the cost covered by insurance?
Life Counseling Center, does not bill insurance. Each participant
is responsible for paying the workshop fee. Insurance companies
usually cite two reasons for not covering the cost of the workshop:
It doesn't take place in a hospital setting, and we don't assign
a specific diagnosis to participants.
What is the transfer or cancellation policy?
The deposit is non-refundable in the event you cancel your registration.
You may transfer to the next available workshop without penalty
provided you notify us at least two weeks before the start of your
originally scheduled workshop. If you transfer within two weeks
of the start date, you'll incur a transfer penalty. No refund is
given if you fail to notify us that you won't be attending, if you
withdraw from the workshop early, if you're asked to leave a workshop,
or if you complete the workshop.
How will I get from the airport to the conference site?
LCC does not offer shuttle service from the BWI airport at this
time. Consequently, you will need to rent a car to arrive in Easton,
MD. It is about a 50-minuet drive.
Why do I have to have a roommate? Can't I pay extra for a private
room?
All workshop participants have a roommate; there are no private
rooms. Obviously, one reason is to contain costs. More important,
we've found that a roommate is an important part of the workshop
process. Having a roommate forces you to break the isolation that
is part of the addiction/co-addiction picture. It also provides
accountability and safety. It's wise to bring earplugs in case your
roommate snores.
Do I have to be referred by a therapist?
In general, anyone who seeks recovery from his or her sexual addiction
or co-addiction may attend a Healing Workshop. You don't have to
be referred by a therapist. A participant, though, must be free
from suicidal impulses, psychosis, and active alcohol and drug addiction.
You must be able to self-regulate and maintain psychological stability
while doing intensive work. If you have doubts about whether the
workshop is an appropriate setting for you, please discuss your
situation with Robb Horner, MA, director of LCC's The Underground
workshops.
Is there an exercise facility available?
Yes, when the workshop is held in a hotel. They are usually a small
exercising room. You may exercise before breakfast or late evenings
after sessions.
What is the dress code?
The dress code for the weekend is definitely casual - jeans, jogging
suits, shorts, etc. Because of the nature of the workshop, we pay
special attention to requiring dress that's appropriate for our
sensitive setting. So again, please dress casual but appropriate.
Can I use my cell phone?
In order to keep your focus on your healing process, we strongly
discourage phone calls. If you call home, it's easy to get sidetracked
into an upsetting conversation. Alert loved ones that you've arrived
safely and remind them you're not available except in a genuine
emergency. We're glad to keep your cell phone to help you avoid
contacting someone you shouldn't.
Although we discourage it, some people choose to check their work
voicemail once a day. Remember, it's to your advantage to eliminate
distractions during the workshop.
Can I bring my laptop?
Again, we strongly encourage you to put aside all work and other
distractions in order to remain as present as possible. You won't
have any free time to work. If you feel you must check your work
email once a day, you must ask your roommate for accountability
about your use of the Internet.
How does someone contact me in the event of an emergency?
You'll receive a Site Information Form that lists the workshop location
and phone number. In the event of a serious emergency, a family
member can call the Life Counseling Center office during the day
and evening or the hotel overnight.
What is the smoking policy
The Underground workshop is non-smoking, and we encourage participants
to be nicotine free during the workshop. However, if you must smoke,
it will be during meal breaks, you may then step outside to smoke,
if necessary. No cigars, please.
Will I have any free time?
The workshop schedule begins each day at 8:30 am and normally continues
until around 9:00 pm. Some nights you'll have an overnight assignment.
You'll have brief breaks through the day and about an hour at mealtimes.
For the duration of the workshop you won't have time to leave the
site, play tourist or connect with anyone you know in the area.
NOTE: In response to the economic crisis many are experiencing, Life
Counseling Center is doing all that it can to be sensitive regarding
the fee of the individual workshops. * We hope to encourage people
to invest in their healing even when money is tight.
